Phoenix of Lanatha
Wallwood also known as stonewood is an extremely hardwood and quite fire-resistant ( but not proof ) wood. Most common found along the Tarnia river to the south especially around the city-state Carth which is famous for it’s lumber. Wallwood is extremely hard to cut and most tools do a poor job of cutting it. Carth lumberjacks use traditionral brittle tools passed down from antiquity that look like they were made of stone which hold supersharp edges. The knowledge of making these tools has long been lost. Magic blades as well as imported steel blades imported from Derthayia are more commonly used and have lowered the cost of the wood slightly. Most wallwood is used for outter walls around settlements and cities that can afford it. Only the wealthy, money changers, and goverments will use it for buildings. The senate hall of New Lana for example is made competely out of carved wallwood. Cheaper buildings will be made of marble, or softer woods. Wallwood was once used to make extremely durable tools and weapons, but the expense to shape it for such uses are prohibitive, and only druids through their magics are known to use it thusly.
Wallwood is also known for it’s large smooth soft glossy red pitted fruits, called wallberries, which are used to make most wines. It is rumored that wine made from wallberries is the closest to ambrosia that mortals can make.
